Gate valves provide optimum performance in conditions where high flow efficiency, tight shut off and long service is required. Operation:

Raising a Gate Valve or a Sluice Valve allows water to flow through it. When a Gate Valve is partly lowered we can control the speed or pressure and the volume of water that flows through it. When the Gate Valve is fully closed, the water flow is stopped.

Usually a Mechanism drives the Gate Valve Up or Down. This may be a simple, hand-operated, worm drive or rack and pinion drive, or it may be electrically or hydraulically powered.
